Here are some simple facts about Covered CA.

Starting in 2013 everyone was required to have health insurance. If you were not coved by your employer or Medicare and did not qualify for Medi-Cal, you could be billed in the form of taxes on your income tax return.

If your income is within a certain range you could pay less than what you will be billed for opting out or not having health insurance coverage.

Premiums will be determined by your income reported on your income tax return.
